Originally from California, Christie Cacioppo moved to Louisiana to complete her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2008. She then moved to Tampa, Florida in 2010 with her husband to pursue her Masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. She completed her Masters of Arts from the University of South Florida in 2012 and got her BCBA certification in 2013. Christie first became interested in working with individuals with developmental disabilities when she was in high school. She went to a camp in Missouri where she was paired up with a child with Autism. She loved helping that child have a normal camp experience so much that she wanted to help every child have similar experiences in their every day lives. She has been working directly with children with Autism and other developmental disabilities for over 4 years and has experience in the clinical, home, camp, and school settings. She has experience implementing different types of programs ranging from academic skill acquisition, increasing social skills, increasing self-care skills, increasing vocal production, decreasing aggression, decreasing self-injurious behavior, feeding, and toilet training. Christie is a member of the Florida Association for Behavior Analysts. This association holds an annual conference that Christie attends and has presented at. She has also attended additional training from Vincent Carbone, Ed.D., BCBA-D titled "Guiding the development and implementation of an intensive behavioral program for teaching language and basic learner skills". She has also attended a workshop on cued speech.
